Patrick A. Staley, 64 of Walsenburg, CO, passed away unexpectedly on March 3, 2017 at the Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center in Walsenburg. He was born in La Junta, CO, to the late Mack & Peggy (Arnold) Staley on March 11, 1952. He graduated from La Junta High School in 1970. Pat married Becky S. Tryon in November 1972. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1972 as a Motor Lifeboat Engineer and served honorably for four years at Grays Harbor, Westport, WA.
In 1978 he joined Mountain Bell as a Loop Technician until he retired in 2002. Pat enjoyed fishing and camping with his family along with participating in numerous living history events throughout Southeastern Colorado, sharing his love of local history with the public. Pat was a founding member of a local theatrical group, The Society of Outlaws and Gunfighters and won several awards in national competitions. He also severed as an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop 252 in Walsenburg, CO.
Pat is survived by his wife, Becky of Walsenburg and sons, Craig and Michael of Pueblo, CO; his mother, Peggy Staley of La Junta; brother, Guy Staley; sisters, Denise West and Claudine Ridgeway. He was preceded in death by his father, Mack Staley on May 3, 2005; brother, Ronald Joe Staley.
A Celebration of Life service was held Friday, March 10, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 701 W. Ninth in Pueblo. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ft. Lyon National Cemetery with military honors.
