Paul D. Casper, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. Paul was born March 19, 1949 in Hayes, Kansas to Paul and Bonnie Casper. He grew up in La Junta, Colorado where he graduated from La Junta High School in 1967 and went on to graduate from CU Boulder in 1972. After returning to La Junta he met and married Becky Lusk his partner in love and life for 48 years. Paul was known to be a workaholic, always working two jobs at any given time. During their early years Paul worked for Otero Lumber Company, Southeast Colorado Manpower, and Southeast Colorado Power Association where he was a Lineman. Paul went on to be an outside salesman for high voltage equipment throughout the states of Colorado and New Mexico.
He and Becky enjoyed their retired lives traveling the country in their motor home and spending time at their other home on the banks of the Cimarron River in Ute Park, NM. Never able to sit still for long, they helped their son Paul sell his produce at the Farmers Markets in Taos and Eagles Nest, NM for 15 years. Peddling produce for Lusk Farms was the "job" he enjoyed the most. He loved it. People would line up to buy the Rocky Ford Cantaloupe and Paul was such a great representative to Lusk Farms. He so loved all of his customers and they loved him, even when there wasn't enough okra.
Paul was an artist and a craftsman, who used his extensive knowledge and skill in construction to create a beautiful home for their family, even if is new ideas kept it under renovation throughout all of the children's lives and most of their own as well. When Paul wasn't working on his own home, he was putting touches into both of his Sons' homes and teaching them all he knew. On top of being the loving husband, father, and grandfather, Paul served as the family plumber, electrician, contractor, pool boy (not) and yardman. He could not have been more proud of his two sons and daughter-in-laws and he was totally enamored with his grandchildren as they brightened his every day.
Paul is survived in life by his wife, Becky; son, Paul (Susan) and their children, Dalton 16, Hayden 11, Riley 8, Cort 5, son, Colonel Luke (Christy) and their children, Ryan 14 and Malia 11; Paul's mother, Bonnie; brother, Kenny (Chris) Casper; sisters, Crystal (Don) Dutton and Donna (Rich Bregar) Casper. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul Casper and his brother, Mike Casper.
