Peggy Jane Roweth

Peggy Jane Roweth, 76, of La Junta passed away at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta from a heart attack with her family by her side on April 14, 2016.
 
Peggy was born July 4, 1939 to Ruby and Fred Ward in McKinney, Texas. She was
the oldest of four children, Peggy, Eddie, Kay, and Dennis Ward. Peggy married her sweetheart Charles Edgar Roweth on November 19, 1969 and they enjoyed their simple life in Kim, Colorado while her husband worked for the State Highway. They were blessed on April 9, 1974 with a son, Charles “Chip” Edward Roweth, who made their family complete.
 
Peggy was an active member of the Kim Community. She served many years as the
Postmaster of Kim Post Office. She enjoyed the Kim Quilting Club. She was also an active member of the Kim Baptist Church and was known for her hospitality, her jello popcorn balls that she loved to make for Halloween, pies, fried chicken, and cherry cheese pie. She loved to cook took pride in having a tableful of family and friends.
A woman of faith, generosity and encouragement describes Peggy. She talked about
memories of cooking for Camp Salvation and taught her family to always follow and trust the Lord. Her sweet smile, hospitality, and gentle disposition will always be remembered.
 
She is survived by her son, Charles Edward (Cassy) Roweth; grandchildren, Hope, Charles "Chase", & Clay Roweth; and her brother, Eddie (Mirena) Ward; and 13 honorary grandchildren who are proud to call her “Grandma Peggy.”

In celebration of Peggy’s life, services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kim Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Cathey of the First Southern Baptist Church in La Junta officiating. Burial will follow at the Kim Cemtery.
