Pete N. Vasquez, 98, passed away on March 23, 2107 at his Manzanola home. He was born on November 22, 1918 in Sedalia, Colorado to Florentino & Conception (Nevares) Vasquez. He married Tula Lopez on October 6, 1940; she preceded him in death on April 2, 2008.
The made there how in Manzanola where they raised 5 children. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad then became employed by the Pueblo Army depot in 1948. He retired in 1978 when he began working for Walter farms until 1994. He retired from farm work and began working around the home. He had a great love for his family and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his children, Alice Vasquez and Esther Vasquez both of Manzanola; Tino (Lenora) Vasquez of Olney Springs; sisters, Louise Sipnefski of La Junta; Molly Reyna of MO; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive . He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons, Pete J. Vasquez and Isabel D. Vasquez; grandson, Justin L. Vasquez, and his brothers & sisters.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Armory Hall in Manzanola with Father Paul Ekeh of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church officiating.
