Peter Anthony Kasper, 68, passed away on October 19, 2018 at his Fowler home, after fiercely battling cancer for almost a year. Pete was born on February 2, 1950, to Peter Albert Kasper and Hilda "Aldona" Badaukus in Crete, Illinois.
The second child of three, they bought a dairy farm in Lowell, Indiana in 1957. He attended Lowell High School and went on to receive his degree in elementary education from Valparaiso University. He began farming on his parents' farm after graduating, and then moved his family to Hotchkiss in 1984 to start his own dairy. He received his endorsement in Special Education from Western State University in 2000 and began
teaching full time in Delta County for over 10 years. He managed a water enhancement cloud seeding operation for 20 years, managed the overland ditch company from 1986-2005, served on the Colorado River Water Conservation Board as a board member, vice-president and president for a total of 9 years and worked for the Colorado Division of Water Resources for 23 years. He retired from the State of Colorado three years ago and returned to his love of farming and raising a few cows with his wife in Fowler, Colorado.
Pete is survived by his two sons, Andy (Laurel) Kasper and Joshua (Victoria) Kasper; two stepsons, Logan (Sierra) Cox and Brandon (Christian Hill) Cox; his wife, Gwen; his sister, Pam (Gene) Schilling; seven grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Dylan, Willow Webb, Lilac Webb, Silas and Annavah. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Pat Bryant.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home in Delta, Colorado.
