Raymond Saenz passed away October 9, 2022. He was born to Angel and Juanita Saenz on February 28, 1930, in Rocky Ford, Colorado.
Raymond went to school in Sugar City, Colorado and upon graduation from high school Ray joined the United States Army as a medic. He was sent to Korea where he served honorably attaining the rank of First Sargent and was heavily decorated with many medals including the Combat Medical Badge and the Bronze star along with other medals. Raymond was discharged from the Army in Detroit, Michigan, where he met his wife, Thelma. Ray stayed in Detroit working in the auto industry for the next 38 years.
Ray and Thelma had two sons, Mark and Mitchell, and one grandson, David.
Ray and Thelma enjoyed traveling spending most winters in Weslaco, Texas and going back to Michigan during the summers. Raymond was also an international class horseshoe player, pitching horseshoes in different cities and states.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma and his two sons, Mark and Mitchell. In 2010 Raymond decided to move back to Colorado to be with family. Ray leaves four sisters, Tina Smith, Vera Reed, Stella Greb and Toni Lopez and two brothers Gene Muniz and Albert Muniz. The family wants to thank Betty Aragon and her son Danny and The Church of Christ congregation for caring for Ray and also the staff of Evergreen Assisted Living.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Danny Aragon of the Church of Christ in La Junta officiating.
