Rex Lloyd Poulignot

September 25, 1929 — June 4, 2014

Rex Poulignot, 84, passed away at his Manzanola home on June 4th with family by his side.   He was born on September 25, 1929 in Atwood, Kansas to Charles G. & N. Faye (Marietta) Poulignot.  As a child, the family moved to Rocky Ford where Rex attended school graduating in 1947.  He married Florence (Taylor) on April 4, 1948 and moved his family to Brush in 1951.  
 
Rex was a business owner (The Paint Shop) and served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years.  He also served on the Brush City Council, was active in the Methodist Church, local Boy Scout troop, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
 
In 1985 Rex and Florence returned to the Arkansas Valley making their home in Manzanola.  They did volunteer work at McCurdy School in Espanola,NM, Rodeo Bible Camp in Hugo, CO, and their local church.
 
Rex is survived by his wife of 66 years, Florence of the Manzanola home; three daughters, Sue (Garry) Poulignot-Smith of Okeechobee, FL;  Jean (Tom) Quello of Brodhead, WI, and Kay (Greg)  Hainer of Dodge City, KS;  Rex was blessed with four grandchildren,  Michael Daughenbaugh, Peter Quello, Rachel and Kelsie Hainer; brothers, Bob Poulignot  of Fowler and Don (Karen) Poulignot of Rocky Ford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck & Faye Poulignot, infant sister Yvonne, brother, Jerry (Jeanne), sons, Ricky, Mike, and Steve and daughter, Ann Daughenbaugh.  
 
In lieu of flowers, Florence and the girls have requested donations be made in Rex's name to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 124 Cranston Ave., Fowler, CO 81039 direct or through the funeral home.

Funeral service will be Monday, June 9, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the River of Life Fellowship in Ordway, Colorado with Pastor Jeb Brown officiating.  Interment will follow at  Mountainview Cemetery in Manzanola, Colorado.
