Richard A. Miller

March 27, 1963 — January 30, 2015

Richard A. “Rick” Miller, 51, of Rocky Ford passed away suddenly on January 30, 2015 at the Parkview Hospital in Pueblo. He was born on March 27, 1963 in La Junta, Colorado to Albert & Janet (Slate) Miller.


Rick graduated from Rocky Ford High School, after high school he attended OJC. He became a police offer in Rocky Ford for two years, and then decided to be a firefighter in Rocky Ford and did so for 15 years. Rick then worked for Fresenius Medical Center in La Junta for 10 years. For the last six years he has worked for Express Scripts call center in Pueblo. Rick was a member of The Rocky Ford Elks Lodge #1147 for 30 years. He was the Exalted Ruler from 1996 to 1997, and 2000 to 2001 he served at a District Deputy for the Grand Exalted Ruler. He was an avid Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, and Nascar fan. He enjoyed playing volleyball, golf, and baking desserts. Ricks most favorite activity of all was being in the swimming pool with his grandchildren.


He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Kathy Miller; two sons, Michael (Yvonne) Torrez and Adam (Holly Pacheco) Torrez; ten grandchildren, Deseray, Shayla, Ezekeal, Malachi, Dahntay, Nayoka, Grace, Tino, Faith, and Celeste; one great-grandson, Edward Jaramillo, III all of Rocky Ford; sister, Betty Ann Miller and brother, Leroy Miller both of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Frances (John) Madrid of Rocky Ford; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rocky Ford Elks Lodge.
