Richard C. Eveatt

Richard C. Eveatt, 77, of La Junta, passed away on April 1, 2016. He was born on January 25, 1939 in North La Junta to Dewey & Myrtle (Hedges) Eveatt. He resided in Cheraw for the past 25 years.
 
Richard was an auto mechanic working at Winston Chrysler, Williams Chevrolet, McCoy Chevrolet, Jack Miller Ford, Gil Sanchez Chevrolet and Jones Motors. He also worked 13 years with the Colorado Boys Ranch as their Transportation Specialist. He was well known and respected in the automotive community. He loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, camping, and spending time with his dogs. He enjoyed his time in his shop tinkering with his woodworking.
 
Richard is survived by his wife Syd Eveatt of the Cheraw home; children, Dee (Dale) Atkinson of La Junta, Danelle (Marvin) Berg of Swink, Dan (Michelle) Eveatt of La Junta and Diann (Charles) Kiser of Swink; brothers, Loyd Eveatt of Reno, NV and Donald (Dona) Eveatt of Fallon, NV; sister, Mary Lou (Jerry) Spangle of Canon City, CO; brothers, Harry (Carol) Eveatt of La Junta and Eugene (Ronna) Eveatt of La Junta; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
 
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Otero County Sheriffs K-9 program or the animalleague.org direct or through the funeral home.
 
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Gordon Smith of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
