Richard Lucero

April 3, 1941 — April 26, 2015

Richard “Ross” Lucero, 74, of La Junta passed away on April 26, 2015 at his niece’s home. He was born on April 3, 1941 in La Junta to Esteven & Juanita (Rocha) Lucero.
 
Ross attended La Junta high school where he played football and wrestling then later served in the military for two years. He worked for NIBCO as a machine operator and Western Ford in Colorado Springs.
 
He is survived by wife, Willie (Blue) Lucero; siblings, Eleanor Peteque, Ted (Jesse) Lucero, Martha Rodriquez, Ralph (Bernice) Lucero  and Jenny Hernandez; numerous children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Eva Rodriguez, brother, Joe Lucero, brother-in-law, Louie Peteque. 
 
In lieu of flowers those wishing to may make memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA, 22311 direct or through funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Virgil Ortega of the Full Gospel Church in Rocky Ford officiating. Visitation will be Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. also at the chapel. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team.
