Ronald E. Grasmick

October 16, 1943 — August 8, 2014

Ronald Edward Grasmick Sr., 70, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away on August 8, 2014, at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born October 16, 1943, in Rocky Ford, CO to George Grasmick and Vivian E Grasmick (Korf). He attended Rocky Ford area schools and graduated with the class of 1961 from Rocky Ford High School. Ronald married Sharon S. Hannebaum on October 29, 1961, in Rocky Ford. The couple had two sons, Ronald Edward Grasmick Jr. and Veldon Lee Grasmick.


Ronald lived and worked as a farmer in the Rocky Ford and Swink area for 26 years and drove a semi-truck across the country for 10 years. He enjoyed the Colorado great outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, water skiing and tending his own field crops at home. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Ronald is survived by his wife Sharon of the family home, sons Ronald Jr. (Christine) of Brighton, CO, and Veldon (Kelly) of Yoder, CO. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Derek (Danielle) Grasmick of Rockvale, CO, Bradley Grasmick of North Carolina, Cayla and Garrett Grasmick of Yoder, CO, and Jessica and Dillon Grasmick of Brighton, CO, and one great grandson, Lukas Bradley Grasmick of Rockvale, CO. Other surviving family are two sisters, Geraldine (Clyde) Dell and Janice (Dave) Crosson and two brothers, Donald Grasmick and David (LeAnn) Grasmick all of Rocky Ford, CO, and sisters-in-law, Judy Miller of La Junta, CO and Shirley Hannebaum of Wray, CO, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Vivian Grasmick, parents-in-law Leonard Sr. and Irma Hannebaum, sister-in-law Judy Grasmick, Joyce Paugh, and Selma Bolling, brothers-in-law Dick Paugh, Jim Hannebaum, Leonard Hannebaum Jr, and Bill Miller.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Ford FFA, 100 West Washington, Rocky Ford, CO, 81067, direct or through the funeral home.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.





Graveside services will be held on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 10:00 am, at the Rocky Ford Cemetery. Pastor and cousin to Ronald, John Dell, will be officiating the services.
