Ryuko H. Young

Ryuko Young, 96, of La Junta, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Crowley County Nursing Home on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Ryuko lived most of her adult life in Colorado Springs before relocating to La Junta in recent years.

A devoted wife, Ryuko celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage to her beloved husband, Russ Young. Together, they created a loving home filled with joy and laughter. Ryuko is also survived by her daughter, Judy Carroll (Dennis Carroll) of La Junta, and her cherished grandchildren: Amy Rosenthal (Shawn Rosenthal) of Arvada, Heather Vigil (Stan Vigil) of La Junta, and Jesse Metheny (Jennifer Metheny) and Jamie Metheny of Lampasas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her son, John Metheny. Ryuko also leaves behind seven beloved great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.

Ryuko was known for her warm heart, unsurpassable spirit, and deep love for her family. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her kindness and resilience

Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel followed by a celebration of her life service at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
