Sally Jo Kelley passed away on February 24, 2025, from Parkinson's Disease. She was 75 years old. Sally was born August 31, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the oldest of four children.
Sally spent her childhood in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She had many fond memories of growing up in a small town.
After graduation from high school, she spent one year at Ellsworth Junior College. She then transferred to Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas. Sally graduated with a BA in Special Education and Psychology. While her children were young, they spent enough time at
Adams State College for her to earn her Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities. She truly enjoyed school.
Sally also loved working with children. She felt she was extremely fortunate to have a job for 30 years doing what she loved. Even after she retired, she continued to substitute teach.
Sally's children and grandchildren were a huge joy for her. Her daughter Stephanie (David) Gardner, her son Jess Kelley and grandsons Jack Murphy and Luke Murphy. They spent a great deal of time together and she was very proud of them.
Sally enjoyed reading for relaxation. Late in life, she also found gambling on the slot machines to be fun. She traveled enough to appreciate being home.
Altogether, she was a happy and contented person who lived a great life with many friends and a wonderful family. She had so many great friends and had many memories of her time socializing. What fun! She thanks God for all her friends and family.
Per Sally's request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on March 8, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Felisa's Restaurant in La Junta, Colorado. She requested her friends and family join together in a margarita toast to honor her.
In lieu of flowers, Sally requested donations be made in her honor to the National Autism Association.
Now she goes to be with her Savior.
