Serafin “Serf” Salazar, 79, passed away on September 20, 2014 at his La Junta home surrounded by family. He was born in Model, Colorado to Oclires & Louis Salazar.


Serf was a member of the Carpenter’s and Millwrights Union Local 515 and a member of La Junta Catholic Parish. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.   




Serf is survived by his wife of 58 years, Genevieve; children, Cynthia (Will) Hicks, Dena Salazar, Karla (Dean) Knoell, Karen (Shane) Lovato, and Paula Sue (Eric Stringer) Salazar; grandchildren, Ezekiel (Stacy) Ayala, Xavier Talton, Shane Lovato, Cody Knoell, and Rachel Salazar; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Sophia, Sicily, Elijah, Anakin, Max, and Zeta; brothers & sisters, Orcelia, Albertina, Robert, Elizabeth, Joe, Eddie, John, and Judy. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Orlando, Alfred, and Louis.




As per his request cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.




In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ark Valley Hospice, Po Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.
