Sharon Markus, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 29, 2021 at her La Junta home. She was born on January 8, 1939 in La Junta to Charlie & Florence (Warren) Bosley. She married Ralph Markus of Crowley County on June 12, 1960 in La Junta; he preceded her in death on June 25, 2021.
Sharon attended La Junta schools, then attended OJC and then went on to Colorado State Teachers College, which is now known as University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where she received her degree in 1964, and later got her Master’s degree in education from Adams State College in 1984.
They lived and worked in Crowley County for six years, then they moved to La Junta. They were blessed with two daughters, Lori Markus of La Junta and Lisa Markus of Broomfield. When Lori was in the USAF, they were fortunate to be able to travel overseas where they spent some time in England and in the Netherlands, then tour Europe together.
She taught for 32 years, teaching all three primary grades spending the most time in 3rd grade. She spent 17 of those years at the Old North School where she had gone to school as a child. Her teaching career came to a close in 1993 at East School.
She loved to read and enjoyed writing letter. She corresponded with friends in Russia, England and relatives in the US up to the time of her passing. She was a member of the Valley Community Church in Rocky Ford. One of the special things she enjoyed doing there was printing scripture on the quilts the quilting ladies made to distribute.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori Lee Markus of La Junta and Lisa Ann Markus of Broomfield; her brother, Calvin (Geri) Bosley of Windsor, CO; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Charlotte.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Valley Community Church with Kurt England officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
