Funeral services for Sherry J. Pieper, 62, Fowler, will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at the Church of Christ, 10th and Cimarron, La Junta, with Fred Bozeman of the Rye Church of Christ officiating.

Mrs. Pieper died Feb. 22, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.


She was born Feb. 12, 1952, in La Junta to Elvis and Doris Baker.

A 1970 graduate of Rocky Ford High School, she received her associate's degree from Otero Junior College in 1972.

She and Lawrence "Larry" Pieper were married June 18, 1972, in Rocky Ford.

During the early years of marriage, Mrs. Pieper was employed in positions with Southern Colorado Power and as a church secretary at the 10th and Cimarron Church of Christ.
From 1985 until 1999, she was employed at Otero Junior College and after that, she worked at Pueblo Community College.

Mrs. Pieper is survived by her husband Larry of the family home; sons, Jamin Pieper of Falcon and Jody (Amy) Pieper of Fowler; her father, Elvis of La Junta; brothers, Larry B. (Kim) Baker of La Junta and Alan (CeCe) Baker of La Junta.

She is also survived by grandchildren Kaley, Ty and Kory Pieper of Fowler and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice of Fowler.


Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Following the funeral, burial will be held in the Fowler Cemetery.
