Shirley Elizabeth Walker, 86, passed away at her Arvada home. She was born on November 8, 1935, to Herbert & Callie (Ross) Shelton in Olney Springs.
Shirley, also known as Moe, spent her childhood residing in Olney Springs, where she was a member of her high school’s glee club. In 1953, Shirley graduated high school. Three years later, in 1956, Shirley married Bill Walker. Together, Shirley and Bill had two daughters, Catherine and Lisa. Between Catherine and Lisa, Shirley had six grandchildren, Callie, Thomas, Elizabeth, William, Julia, and Sarah. The title “grandma” didn’t sit well with Shirley’s youthful spirit; thus, her nickname “Moe” was created.
Shirley spent the remainder of her life residing close to her family in Arvada, Colorado. Shirley will be remembered for her contagious smile, her comforting disposition, and her impeccable sense of style. Shirley, or Moe, admired the beautiful things in life. To Shirley, beauty was found in everything: art, literature, relationships, style, and her home. She had an uncanny ability to create beauty, and it was obvious to everyone that knew her.
