Sonya Elaine Gutierrez, 56, passed away peacefully at her home, September 23, 2023, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Monday, January 30, 1967, in La Junta, Colorado to Arthur & Alma (Whatley) Gutierrez Sr..

Sonya attended La Junta High School where she received her high school diploma and attended OJC for her CNA certificate. She was a loving and caring, mother, Nana, daughter, sister, aunt, and godmother.

Sonya is survived by her daughter, Krystal Gallegos, son, Philip Gallegos, grandchildren, Kiana Cordova, Kamryn Cordova, Zeke Gallegos, and Chloe Nunez. As well as her ex-husband, James Gallegos; parents, Alma & Arthur Gutierrez Sr., sister, Lorraine Gutierrez; brothers, Arthur Gutierrez Jr. and Robert (Jeanette) Gutierrez; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Sonya is preceded in death by her brother, Carlos Gutierrez; father-in-law, Joe P Gallegos; brother-in-law, Nathan Cole; and great-niece, Armani Gutierrez-Chavez.

Honorary pallbearers, grandsons, Kamryn Cordova, Zeke Gallegos, and Godsons, Mark Gutierrez, Michael Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Mario Martinez, and Carlos Gutierrez JR.

Memorial Service will be held, Friday, October 6, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Full Gospel Church located at 807 Railroad Ave.; Rocky Ford, CO 81067. Graveside service to follow at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta, CO.
