Stella C. Navarro

June 23, 1928 — July 30, 2013

On July 30, 2013, at her Swink home, Stella C. Navarro, was taken from us by the angels and saints. She was born on June 23, 1928 in Heck Canyon, New Mexico to Daniel & Estefanita (Baros) Chavez. She married Sam R. Navarro on August 30, 1946 in Pueblo, Colorado; he preceded her in death on July 15, 1987.

Stella was an Avon representative, foster parent and was the administrator of the Navarro Alternative Care Facility in Swink. She was a member of the Swink garden club, St. Phillip of Jesus Circle & the St. Martin de Porres where she received a fifty year plaque for her service to the churches. She also was a member of the Red Hat Lady, Swink Senior Center and was the Swink 2011 parade marshal for Swink Days. She loved gardening, cooking, and caring for others.

She is survived by her children, Gloria Ojeda, Ernie Navarro, Sam Navarro, Cindy (Mike) Navarro-Mayson, Perry Navarro, and Annette Navarro; grandchildren, Diana (Casey Garcia), Terry (Anna) Ojeda, Michelle Ojeda, Joe (Amanda) Navarro, Cherea Navarro, and Andrew Navarro Abeyta; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Ojeda, Anella Navarro, and Angelina Navarro, Emille Navarro. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Esther Olguin, Alfred Chavez, Henry Chavez, Josephine Romero, and Joseph Chavez.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Monday, August 5, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., both services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Lyon National Cemetery.
