Stephen Perry Gearhart

Perry Gearhart, 76, of La Junta, Colorado passed away September 21, 2023 at his home in La Junta, Colorado. Perry was born January 6, 1947 in La Junta, Colorado to Carl C. & Shirley M. (Wilkus) Gearhart.

After graduating from high school in La Junta Perry joined the U.S. Army serving 1967 and 1968 in Germany during the Viet Nam Era. After returning home from service he worked for NIBCO in La Junta and later worked for the Santa Fe Railroad out of La Junta for 31 years before retiring in 2001.

Perry enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, target shooting and reloading ammunition. He was an avid reader. Perry was a lifetime member of the NRA and the La Junta Rifle Club. He very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Perry is survived by his wife, Sally (Minck) Gearhart of the La Junta home; son, David Gearhart, La Junta, brothers: Rodney (Carolyn) Gearhart, La Junta; Vince (La Nette) Gearhart, Lamar, Colorado; Stan Gearhart, La Junta; Sister, Cyndi (Paul) Bersagel, Pueblo, Colorado. Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Perry was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeremiah Gearhart.

Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Robert Fowler officiating. Cremation has taken place.
