Thelma Ilene Mcginnis

Thelma Ilene McGinnis, 95, sixty year resident of La Junta passed away at her home in the hands of her loving family on May 25, 2015. She was born on December 21, 1919 in Crawford, Nebraska to Walter & Florence Reeves. 
 
She taught school in a one room school house in Nebraska for several years, then later at Lincoln School in La Junta. She enjoyed designing and landscaping in her beautiful lawn and garden and the companionship of many friends, but family was always most central in her life. She was an avid reader, especially Shakespeare. She was a longtime member of Tuesday Literary Club.
 
She is survived by her children, Durant (Cindy) Davidson of Colorado Springs; Woody (Julie) McGinnis of Medford, Oregon;  Loree (Richard) McGinnis  Tisdale of San Francisco, CA; Brent McGinnis of Tucson, AZ; Cort McGinnis of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Cortney Craig McGinnis, Jr., Loree Elizabeth McGinnis, Christine Ann See, Katherine Alyce Goodsell, Collin Reeves McGinnis, Ryan Walter McGinnis, Tyler Reeves Tisdale, Brandy Jean Groh, Bruce Lee McGinnis, Britany Jan McGinnis, Brent James McGinnis  and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Reeves Paris of Scottsbluff, NE.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Woodrow Wane McGinnis, infant son, Rick Wane McGinnis, one sister, Evelyn Reeves Thomas, and brother, Frank Reeves.

 
 

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery with MJ Romano of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.
