Tomasita M. Archuleta, 88, passed away on March 24, 2019 at her La Junta home. She was born on May 27, 1930 in Rowe, New Mexico to Antonio & Donaciana (Gallegos) Gutierrez. She married Steve J. Archuleta, Sr. in 1962 in La Junta; he preceded her in death on June 9, 2010.
She loved spending time with her grandkids and cooking for them. She raised all of her grandkids, they were her pride and joy. Her sister Marcella was always by her side and was her best friend. She enjoyed being outside with all of the animals, her baby goats, pigs, and chickens. She was known for her cooking and she loved listening to her New Mexico music, going to the catholic bazaar to listen to the live Spanish music. She also loved watching her Novelas on T.V. and watching westerns with her son.
She is survived by her children, Judy Archuleta of Pueblo; Cathy Archuleta, Steve J. Archuleta, Jr., and Antonette Archuleta all of La Junta; grandchildren, Micky (Erin) Monroy of Denver; Chasity Archuleta of La Junta; Ray Archuleta of La Junta; George Esquibel of Pueblo; Matthew Archuleta of La Junta; Krysten Archuleta-Lopez of La Junta; Rachel (Sam) Burciago of La Junta; and Sunshine (Sonny Jaramillo) Lovato of Pueblo; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Max (Louise) Gutierrez of Washington; Abe (Josie) Gutierrez, Milton (Lucy) Gutierrez, Marcella Gutierrez, Arthur (Alma) Gutierrez and Salvador (Lupe) Gutierrez all of La Junta. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Lucy Archuleta; brothers, Eddie and Cristobal Gutierrez.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Henry Wertin officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in La Junta. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
