Tressie Eileen Gilpin, was born on May 1, 1919 in the area of Elk City, Oklahoma to Ernest N. & Sarah Elizabeth (Fender) Guthrie; both preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Guthrie and Jessie Bernice Guthrie Brittain.

The family moved to the area of Andrix, Colorado where she was raised. Eileen graduated from Kim High School and she attended Trinidad Junior College.


She married Joseph J.A. Gilpin on Aug. 9, 1941. They rededicated their marriage and dedication to each other by a second wedding on their 35th wedding anniversary. During World War II she and her husband were in the Civil Service. Later they resided in Las Vegas, Nevada for many years. They returned to the Pritchett, Colorado area in 1977.


She lived outside of the Sugar City, Colorado with Grace and Sam Wilson since 1986. She was lovingly known by all as "Grandma" to all.


Eileen went home on February 21, 2014 with family by her side at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado.


She is survived by her siblings, Anna Mae Smith, Ernest B. Guthrie and Opal Fern Weber; brother-in-law, Orville Gilpin and sister-in-law, Shirley Ann Greenbaugh; children, Joann Eileen Thompson, Grace Elizabeth (Senech) Wilson; grandchildren, Suzanne E. (Richard "Dicky") Bryan, Kathleen D. (Daryl) Buckhaults, Tressie H. (Nathan) Sims, Senech "Buck" (Jennifer) Wilson, Dovevanna D. Pachak, and Jeddidiah (Samantha) Wilson; great-grandchildren, Cris Ming and his sons, Kamron & Carsen, Allison M. (Kevan) Long, Jonathon Riley Bryan, Aron Ming and his fiancé Amy and son William, Dakota C. Buckhaults and his fiancé Yesenia, Noble H. Buckhaults, Jennifer M. Sims, Alexander Sims, Emma A. Pachak, John Sims, Jack L. Pachak, and Ross Wilson.


In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Goodwell Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 759, Goodwell, OK 73939 or to the Boone Volunteer Fire Department direct or through the funeral home.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.




Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., at Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, Colorado. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
