Vera Ruby (Martinez) Pantoya, 89, Passed away Jan. 8, 2014, at the Bent County HealthCare Center in Las Animas. She was born in La Junta on Jun. 5, 1924. Vera married Joe Mora Pantoya in 1943 in La Junta.


Vera was a homemaker and a resident of La Junta for all of her life.


Mrs. Pantoya was preceded In death by her husband, her parents, one brother, three sisters, her son and a grandson.


Vera is survived by her sister Florence S. Olguin of Denver; grandchildren, Michelle of Westminster, Beatrice of Arvada, J J Valentine of Cincinnati, OH, Marcella Pantoya of La Junta, Laura Pantoya and Jessica Kennedy of Pueblo; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2014, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery with Father Matthew Wertin officiating.
