Victor Aldea, 84, passed away Oct. 19, 2013 at his La Junta home. He was born on Aug. 31, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to Teofil & Mary (Bardas) Aldea. He married Dona Benscheidt on Jan. 28, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico.
Victor graduated from Kansas University with and Engineering Degree; following college Victor worked for McDonald-Douglas. He worked for many years at Western Canning and was the Vice President when he retired. Victor received the Community Service Award in 2006, the City of La Junta Utility & Electric Boards for many years, was an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church, and he enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
Victor is survived by his wife, Dona of the La Junta home; daughter, Vicki (Steve) Nagy of Hilton Head, SC; son, Tom (Patti) Aldea of La Junta; daughters Sharon (John) Haughney of Clearwater, FL and Jane (Ed) Williams of Black Forest, CO; eight grandchildren, Shelli (Steve) Zachary, Alissa (Sam) Grossman, Kayla Williams, Aricka Aldea, Victor Williams, Jessica Haughney, Joli Williams, and Joshua Haughney; sister, Mary Ferguson of Buelton, CA; and brother, Daniel Graham of Rolling Hills, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Picketwire Theater, Otero Museum or to a local charity of choice direct or through the funeral home.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
A celebration of life service will be Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. MJ Romano officiating.
