Wayne Tyler, a devoted husband, dedicated educator, and passionate golfer, passed away on September 22, 2023, at the age of 94. He was born, Sunday, May 19, 1929, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to loving parents, Howard & Hazel (Hook) Tyler, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and a passion for learning.

Wayne's journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to education. He graduated from high school in 1947, embarking on a path that would lead him to become a prominent figure in the field of agricultural economics. Wayne's thirst for knowledge led him to Oklahoma State University, where he earned his Masters in Agricultural Economics, and his Doctorate in Education.

In 1950, Wayne married the love of his life, LaDee Corbett, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond. Their union was a shining example of love, commitment, and partnership, and their love story served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Wayne often said marrying LaDee was the best decision of his life. Together, they had two beautiful daughters, Lindy and Diana.

A true scholar and educator at heart, Wayne Tyler shared his expertise and love for learning with countless students over the years. His teaching career spanned several decades, during which he served as a professor at both Panhandle State University and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). Wayne's impact on the lives of his students extended far beyond the classroom, as he inspired many to pursue their own academic and professional aspirations, including his daughters Lindy and Diana, who followed in his footsteps in the world of education.

While Wayne was involved in many sports from a young age, golf became his passion which he pursued into his 90s. His impressive swing and enthusiasm for the game made him a beloved figure on the fairways and greens of his favorite courses, where he often played rounds with Lindy and Ron, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren, passing down not only his golfing skills but also his love for the game.

Wayne Tyler's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the generations of students whose lives he enriched. He is survived by his sister Delores Rentenbach of Traverse City, MI; daughters, Lindy (Ron) Bay of La Junta, CO, and Diana (Steve) Didier of Paola, KS; grandchildren, David (Bethany) Weaver of Tulsa, OK; Todd (Lauren) Weaver of Colorado Springs; Stephanie (Bryce) Spradling of Olathe, KS; and Katie (Joey) Robertson of Denver, CO. As we bid farewell, may he find endless fairways to roam in the golfing paradise that awaits him beyond.

Wayne’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. the same day. Burial will be Monday, October 2, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Braman Cemetery, 14304 W. Bender Rd; Braman, OK 74632
