William Eugene Broadbent

William Eugene “Gene” Broadbent, 75, lifelong resident of
Crowley County, passed away on December 21, 2013 at his Ordway home. He was
born on June 16, 1938 in Pueblo, Colorado to William & Grace (Forcher) Broadbent.
Gene married Malvina Fedeli in 1960 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in
Walsenburg, Colorado. 


 


Gene attended Numa School through the 8th
grade. Then he attended Ordway High School where he graduated and during his
high school years he played football and wrestling. After high school he
attended Pueblo Junior College for 2 years studying auto mechanics. He worked
as an auto mechanic for over 40 years, the last 20 years he worked at Chubbock
Motors in Ordway, retiring at the age of 62.  He also farmed and raised cattle until the
water was sold.


 


Gene is survived by his wife, Mal of the Ordway home;
children, Mike (Patrice) Broadbent and Joan (Joe) Johnson; six grandchildren,
Jenna, Kristin, Christopher, Hannah, Emily, and Kevin; two great-grandsons,
William and James.

As per Gene’s request cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
