William Jennings Sayre

William Jennings “Bill” Sayre, 77, entered Heaven on March 26, 2016 at the Pioneer Healthcare Center in Rocky Ford following a lengthy illness. He was born in Colorado Springs on December 22, 1938 to the late Jennings M., Jr. & Twyla M. (Wadleigh) Sayre.
 
Over the years, he lived in La Junta, Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Denver, returning to La Junta several years ago.
 
After graduating from La Junta High School in 1956, Bill joined the U.S. Army and was with the 101st Airborne Division and discharged after a knee injury in 1958. He was a member of The Tune Toppers, Koshare Indians and the United Methodist Church. Bill was in sales and customer service, just loving people until his retirement. He did not want to be called Mr., just Bill. He was an avid Bronco fan, loved to fish, loved cars and most of all loved his family and friends.
 
Bill is survived by his son, Kevin (Patricia) Sayre of Leoti, KN; daughter, Shelly (Russ) Bender of Pueblo; grandchildren LaTricia, Mashell, Kala, Ashleigh, Michael, Cole; and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luanna (Ron) Hendren and Marilyn (Neill) Carmichael; two nieces, Ronda Sheldon and family and Erin Woon and family; also surviving are Lyla Blasdel Sayre and Betty Elmer Mathis; and numerous extended family.  
 
The family would like to thank Pioneer Healthcare Center for the great care they provided Bill will he resided there and also to Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home.

As per Bill’s request cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. “See you later, Bill, we love you.”
